Full Job Description

The person in this position will provide administrative support for duties and responsibilities related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the implementation, oversight, and monitoring of the state’s special education dispute resolution systems; set up and maintain files, databases, and related tracking systems; edit and issue correspondence; and communication with local educational agencies.

Assist with monitoring timelines for special education local due process hearings, state-level appeals, and the mediation processes; monitor implementation of hearing officer and state-level-review officer’s decisions; compile and submit federal IDEA and state reporting requirements; and redact and post hearing decisions.

Provide administrative support related to the recruitment, training, payment of hearing officers and mediators; other technical assistance related to the IDEA dispute resolution systems; professional learning opportunities; and other activities.

Expected duties include but are not limited to handling all logistics such as securing facilities and equipment, make and finalize travel arrangements for presenters and personnel, prepare materials, and utilize the Agency Routing Tool (ART) application to secure appropriate authorization.

Provide administrative support related to the implementation of other federal and state requirements related to the IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Medicaid, discipline, attendance, and other student support and education-related programs and issues.

Provide administrative support to attorneys and investigators who handle education certification matters.

Provide support throughout educator misconduct investigations by opening and organizing case files, draft subpoenas, and draft correspondence to educators, school districts, law enforcement, and other relevant authorities.

Other duties as assigned.

This position is located in the Office of General Counsel.

Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
