Full Job Description

Job Summary:

Coordinates general administrative, business management and/or support activities for all staff. Serves as office coordinator, handles office communications, and assists clientele as needed.

Shares information about 1890 programs, services, and resources with stakeholders.

Prepares correspondence from printed and/or recorded materials for office staff and proofreads outgoing correspondence.

Provides leadership for utilization of office equipment and technical support as needed.

Maintains and keeps an organized, accurate, and up-to-date filing systems and inventory of resource materials and equipment.

Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:


Creates new files, purges old files, updates, and corrects file information based on the federal state, and university policies. Photocopy files/paperwork and scan documents for staff.

Performs a variety of administrative duties. Monitors expenditures and budgets to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.

Develops and manages the administrative procedures of the region, prepares various reports and correspondence, serves as the regional liaison with other regions, universities, and external organizations/agencies.

Prepares human resources, finance, travel, and procurement documents, leave forms, timesheets, and other pertinent forms as required for state and county staff.


Required Skills/Abilities:

Individuals will work with program leaders and other regional directors and staff in short-term and long-term planning to develop statewide initiatives which reflect the program needs and priorities for the region, as well as the state and federal commitments.


Individuals will also provide leadership for the development and successful operation of an overall regional partnering structure or advisory body that allows for program input, development, and evaluation.




Minimum Education and Experience:


Individual should possess the minimum of a high school diploma or three (3) years clerical or administrative experience and ability to type at a rate of 55 words per minute. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and computer skills are required.


Preferred Education and Experience:


A minimum of an associate degree or five (5) years clerical or administrative experience and ability to type at a rate of 55 words per minute. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and computer skills is required.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

None


Work Environment:

Office


Physical Requirements:

Physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.


Travel Requirements:

Overnight in-state and out-of-state travel may be required on occasion.

This individual will be housed in the regional office but will also have programmatic responsibilities as requested throughout the state of SC.


The individual must have the ability to perform duties on own initiative while receiving minimal supervision.

The employee must be able to use good judgment in making decisions, exhibit a good working relationship with people, and highly dependable in planning, implementing, and reporting activities.

Individual must be able to relate to diverse disadvantaged rural/urban people as well as professionals. A valid driver's license is required.

Occasional overnight in-state and out-of-state travel is required.
