The Court Business Office is a critical part of Washington’s judicial system, providing business and systems analysis, case management support, and data services to courts across the state.

As the Administrative Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Court Business Office Manager, other managers, and business teams.

Your work will be varied, fast-moving, and impactful, ranging from coordinating meetings and managing communications to preparing documents and tracking deadlines.


We’re looking for someone who is confident using modern productivity tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.

You should be someone who can take directions, respond quickly to changing priorities, and collaborate effectively with staff and stakeholders.

Salary: Range 54: $ 60,132 - $ 78,912 per year (DOQ).

WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENCY AND TELEWORK INFORMATION


AOC requires employees to reside in Washington State. Any exceptions must be approved. If you are invited to interview and currently reside outside of Washington State, seek more information about residency requirements from the AOC hiring manager of this recruitment.


This position requires you to be in the office at least three (3) days per week.

Requirements


Some of the duties you will perform are:

  • Prepares and edits correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using office software; ensures clarity, quality, and compliance with agency standards.
  • Coordinates daily administrative operations for the office or section, maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, and distributing information.
  • Plans and manage logistics for conferences and meetings, including facilities, accommodations, meals, speakers, and financial transactions.
  • Prepares agendas, notifies participants, attends meetings, and drafts minutes; may evaluate events as directed.
  • Conduct studies and compiles reports to support decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive materials and information; serves as a point of contact for visitors and the public.
  • Supports recruitment activities by coordinating interviews, onboarding logistics, equipment orders, and HR communications.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of key issues and deadlines, tracks assignments and progress reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or closely related field


AND


  • Ability to demonstrate three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative support experience in a similar professional work environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced word processing skills.


Demonstration of relevant work experience may substitute for education experience.


THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365 products, including Teams, Outlook, Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, and others, with the appropriate expertise to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient in composing reports, interpreting information, and maintaining professional correspondence.
  • Builds effective working relationships across departments and agencies; collaborates and updates leadership on key assignments.
  • Proficient in office procedures, grammar, and clerical practices; consistently meets deadlines and maintains high productivity standards.
  • Quickly learns and applies new software tools; adapts to evolving technology and workflow requirements.
  • Excels at multitasking and prioritizing in complex environments; maintains focus and efficiency under pressure.
  • Applies critical thinking to identify, analyze, and resolve problems; anticipates challenges and adjusts plans proactively.
  • Maintains accountability and attention to detail; ensures work meets quality standards and meets customer expectations.
