Full Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT: OFFICE OF APPELLATE DEFENSE
Under the supervision of the Administrative Coordinator, perform legal secretarial and administrative duties including, but not limited to:

Compose and prepare correspondence, documents, and other materials as assigned by respective attorneys. Maintain current knowledge of regulations and formats required for legal documents.

Proofread documents to verify the accuracy and completeness of citations and references for legal correspondence and documents.

Maintain calendars for respective attorneys of scheduled appointments, conferences and hearings. Maintain calendars for deadlines to the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals for filings of pleadings.

Must be completely familiar with time requirements set on each case by the Courts and take full responsibility for informing designated attorneys of these deadlines.

Must give adequate notice to the attorney in order to ensure completion of filings before the applicable deadlines.

Operate a variety of standard office equipment, including computer word processing software and case management database.

Maintain daily tickler systems and complete set-up and maintenance of filing systems for assigned cases. Communicate with the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
