Job Description

Summary

This job involves handling basic accounting tasks like checking documents for accuracy, updating financial records, and maintaining ledgers and files for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Texarkana, Texas.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Defense Finance & Accounting Service (DFAS)- Texarkana.. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience performing duties similar to those described above. Ability to type.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Applicant will posses at least 3 semester hours of accounting.

Applicant will have at least 1 year experience in accounting. Transcripts must be uploaded at time of application to receive credit. Resume must clearly reflect accounting experience to receive credit.

Major Duties:

  • Maintains an assigned area if journals and ledgers.
  • Examines, verifies, and analyzes a variety of documents to determine their mathematical correctness, validity and clerical accuracy.
  • Maintains files of all correspondence and messages pertaining to financial records and accounting.
  • Audits and verifies each supporting document for propriety of account debits and credits amount of deposit.
  • Completes posting documents with back-up attached codes documents and posts to appropriate ledger and journal.
