This position requires the use of your special talents and abilities in accounting to help the most vulnerable in our County. An employee in this class analyzes difficult financial transactions and prepares documented financial statements and reports to control and account for funds, and to analyze and project financial data. This important work is what helps drive our services and programs to protect the children and families we serve.

Requirements

As an Accountant 2, you will:

  • Work with Special Grants: Complete the required Special Grant expenditure report provided by the State and submit invoice with service counts. Special Grants can include: Evidence Based, Promising Practice, Housing, SHIFT, POSC, IL, IT, and Preventive Services IV-E under Families First.
  • Verify and compile expenditures from the general ledger to prepare various complex invoices and reports.
  • Assists in the budget process by gathering expenses and statistics of child counts, service counts and expenditures for service trends.
  • Assist in projecting cost for purchased services and staff salary and benefits.
  • Monitor budget expenses and revenue accounts.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Accountant I; or
  • Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting.
  • Four years of bookkeeping experience and 18 college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
