This role involves supervising and mentoring young participants in a youth challenge program, helping them with daily hygiene, uniform care, life skills, and following rules while ensuring their safety and emotional well-being.
The job requires leading by example to promote discipline and self-improvement, working at a site in Battle Creek, Michigan.
It's a good fit for someone with military, counseling, or educational experience who enjoys working with at-risk youth and can handle a structured, hands-on environment.
Under the direct supervision of a Cadre Supervisor, this position is responsible for the instructions and oversight of Challenge Cadets/Associates in the areas of personal hygiene, uniform/clothing care and maintenance, life skills development (8-Core Components), enforcement of Challenge policies, rules and regulations; and submission of verbal and written orders and reports.
Must provide for the physical, emotional and safety needs of cadets/associates.
Cadre must assist cadets/associates in meeting their individual goals as well as assisting in the development of a pathway to success.
This position must instill by example the military model of behaviors and self-discipline.
This position will be assigned to work in one of two sites: Youth Challenge (5500 Armstrong Rd, Battle Creek) or Job Challenge (Ft Custer, Battle Creek)

Education
No specific type or amount is required.
Experience
One year of military experience; or, one year of working in a residential or treatment setting; or, one year working as an Educator, Counselor, Coach, Social Worker, or law enforcement officer.
Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.
Willingness to submit to a background investigation.
