Summary

This job involves writing, editing, and producing publications for the Navy, ensuring content is clear, accurate, and ready for distribution to the right audiences.

You'll handle everything from researching facts and reviewing manuscripts to managing design and digital publishing.

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Direct Hire Authority for Recent Graduates and Post-Secondary Students.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Examples of specialized experience may include some of the following: 1) Managing all phases of design, production, printing, and distribution of published products; 2) Utilizing digital production methods to edit manuscripts and manage all manuscript review; 3) Identifying materials needed for publication and skill in judging completeness and usability of author 's content; and 4) Researching and consulting to determine the accuracy of facts and documentation.

  • You will ensure that subjects are presented clearly, thoroughly and convincingly, in a manner appropriate to the intended audience.
  • You will conduct some substantive editing and restructuring to organize, balance and complete deficient materials to meet publishing objectives.
  • You will conduct independent research and consult with specialists to check accuracy of facts and source documentation.
  • You will verify the author's text materials and imagery and works to resolve discrepancies.
  • You will determine which materials authors and content providers need to provide to support a product’s intended format and medium and ensure that all materials are received prior to production.
  • You will manage the design, production, and digital publication of various products.
