This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief of Operations, Superintendent House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent Tenant Services Division, Carpentry Branch.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position: Ability to lead and/or supervise workers who perform tasks in the woodworking and carpentry trade.

Your resume must show that you have sufficient experience to perform the duties of the position as described in the vacancy announcement. Major Duties:

The tour of duty may range from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This position is emergency essential; depending on the type of emergency, the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations.

The incumbent serves as the Wood Crafter (CNC) Assistant Supervisor and shares responsibility with the Wood Crafter (CNC) Supervisor for assigning, directing and reviewing the work of subordinates; evaluating their work performance, planning, scheduling and coordinating work operations; and solving problems related to the work performed by section employees.

The incumbent functions as a full assistant to the Wood Crafter Supervisor with full authority to act on all matters for which the superior is responsible.

Shares responsibility with the Wood Crafter Supervisor for the quality and quantity of the CNC work performed by subordinates.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Perform administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assign duties and evaluate performance.

Manage the organizational unit's budget and workload. Develop performance requirements for subordinates and ensure a mutual understanding of the performance standards.

Resolve complaints and grievances. Provide leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements.

Create designs and fabricates high-grade cabinetry, furniture, woodwork and signs via various CNC machinery.

Plan and lay out work from specifications, blueprints, rough sketches and verbal instructions, taking into consideration the tooling, durability, cost, strength and appearance characteristics of a variety of softwoods, hardwoods, plywood, veneers and wood substitutes for projects.

Repair high grade wooden items such as cabinetry, furniture and decorative woodwork for use in the House Office Buildings.

Select, cut, turn, shape, join, bond, fit, assemble and decorate wooden materials and parts, using the full range of hand and power wood working tools, machines and techniques to create superior and structurally reliable woodwork which requires exact fitting and close weight, pressure and size tolerances to construct specialty furniture.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
