About the Position: You will serve as Assistant Supervisor over the Water Treatment Plant, participating in planning, directing, overseeing and supervising the execution of work and administrative activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR SUPERVISOR to include the ability to lead or supervise.

Abilities include (1) planning work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates; (2) explaining work requirements, methods, and procedures; (3) measuring and introducing chemicals into the water system; (4) controlling water treatment processes to ensure proper water quality; and (5) conducting water quality test to verify water quality is kept within established limits.

Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.

(Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.

Operation of Job Family Specify Equipment, Machinery, etc. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Major Duties:

  • Direct and coordinate daily plant operations to ensure continuous production of safe drinking water.
  • Serve as a resource for complex tasks, troubleshooting and implementing improvements in operational processes
  • Provide advice, technical guidance and instruction to personnel in the areas of water treatment, pumping distribution and residuals processing.
  • Monitor plant performance, treatment processes, and system alarms to ensure operational standards are met.
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks to personnel, the public, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure operators comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Safe Drinking Water Act requirements.
  • Assign work tasks and priorities based on operational needs, staffing levels and regulatory requirements.
