Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a senior specialist to help people with significant disabilities find, prepare for, and keep competitive jobs by managing complex cases independently.
It focuses on creating training plans, supporting adjustments to work environments, and connecting clients with employers.
A good fit would be an experienced rehabilitation professional who is passionate about empowering individuals with disabilities and has a proven track record in counseling and job placement.
The primary purpose of this senior technical specialist position is to perform the major casework functions independently and provide vocational rehabilitation services to as entire or almost entire caseload of individuals with disabilities consisting primarily of the most complex cases in which the individuals are significantly and most significantly disabled, to assist them in preparing for, securing, retaining, and/or regaining competitive integrated employment.
Certification Requirement:
Applicants must possess current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC). A copy of the CRC certification must be submitted at the time of application.
Specialized Experience Requirement:
One (1) year of professional experience in one or a combination of the following:
1. Vocational rehabilitation training as a regularly designated responsibility;
2. Vocational guidance and teaching work in a recognized vocational rehabilitation program or in a school for persons with disabilities;
3. Developmental work in programs of vocational rehabilitation located in an educational institution, government, business, or industry;
4. Personnel placement or employment placement experience which has provided extensive knowledge of training and rehabilitation requirements necessary to place persons with disabilities in one or more broad occupational areas; and
5. Vocational rehabilitation counseling experience involving the adjustment, training and placement of persons with disabilities into gainful employment.
Qualifying experience must have demonstrated the ability to provide the full range of direct service activities under general supervision.
Such experience must have demonstrated the ability to independently develop training programs for persons with disabilities, to assist them in adjusting to training or work situations and demonstrated successful contacts with management for the placement of disabled persons.
