Summary

Position may be filled at either location: Fort Belvoir, VA: $57,736 - $111,087 Whitehall, OH: $52,654 - $101,309 Recent Graduate Eligibility To be eligible, applicants must meet ONE of the following requirements: - A person who was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than two years before the date of the appointment -OR- - A person who has completed a period of obligated service in a uniformed service of more than four years, and was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than four years before the date of the appointment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.

To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-07: Assisted in the layout and design of communication products such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, or digital graphics using software like Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.

Supported senior designers by preparing draft visual materials based on established templates, brand guidelines, or detailed instructions.

Conducted basic research to gather information for visual products and translated straightforward concepts into simple graphics or illustrations.

GS-09: Independently designed and produced communication materials-including newsletters, brochures, infographics, and digital graphics-using professional desktop publishing software.

Translated general ideas or communication objectives into visual concepts and selected appropriate formats, styles, and media to support messaging.

Conducted research to determine the most effective visual approach for representing information and created original illustrations, charts, or data visualizations.

GS-11: Served as a technical expert in designing, developing, and producing a wide range of strategic communication products for internal and external audiences, translating broad or abstract concepts into compelling visual information.

Created highly original illustrations, complex data visualizations, models, and graphics without established templates, determining the most effective visual treatment for sensitive or high-impact subject matter.

Led the design and development of integrated multimedia content for organizational websites and digital platforms, including interactive elements, animations, and user-interface components that enhance information accessibility.

To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, you must possess: - GS-07: One full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement.

- GS-09: Successfully completed a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

- GS-11: Successfully completed a Ph.D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for grade levels GS-07, GS-09 and GS-11 and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.

The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-07, GS-09 and GS-11.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a Multimedia Specialist and technical expert within DLA Human Resources (J1), Human Capital Transformation, supporting its strategic communications programs.
  • Plans, creates, designs, and produces a wide variety of integrated multimedia products, including video, audio, graphic design, and web content, that communicate.....
  • CONTD: Human Resources programs, policies, and initiatives to DLA's global workforce, leadership, and potential applicants.
  • Lays out, designs, and produces a variety of strategic communication products, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, and other public affairs materials using desktop publishing software.
  • Independently conducts research and makes decisions regarding the subject matter to be depicted from broad concepts.
  • Designs and develops integrated multimedia content for DLA Human Resources web pages and other digital platforms.
  • Ensures all multimedia products comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
