About the Position: This is a Visual Information Specialist GS-1084-11 for Fort liberty, North Carolina.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Creating and planning visual materials, such as photographic documentation and visual presentations to support command-level projects.

2) Consulting with clients to determine requirements, make recommendations, and provide solutions for visual presentations and other media.

3) Applying computer graphics technology to produce and catalog finished visual products in accordance with project specifications.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next/second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.

in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Creativity and Innovation Customer Service Technology Application Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Generates original graphics and illustrations to translate abstract information for diverse audiences.
  • Designs visual presentations and photographic layouts to meet command communication objectives.
  • Advises customers on the appropriate methods and procedures for visual information production.
  • Coordinates project logistics to ensure all customer requirements are met by established deadlines.
  • Employs computer-aided design software to create professional-grade visual information products.
  • Develops a digital database of images and graphics to provide a library of accessible materials.
  • Serves as command photographer, responsible for the planning, designing, and execution of a wide range of photography and graphic design projects.
