Summary

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

You will serve as an Emergency Coordinator, Depopulation and Disposal.

You would be responsible for selection, deployment, training, acquisition, safety, and use of acceptable and approved forms of depopulation technology and techniques to be executed as quickly, efficiently, and humanely as possible in the event of an animal disease emergency.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement you must also meet the specialized experience below.

FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Negotiating effectively with State or local entities to accept and implement recommendations where the proposals involve substantial resources, require extensive changes in established procedures, or create conflict priorities.

Identifying existing/potentially harmful impacts to human health and the environment from 3D (depopulation, disposal, and disinfection) activities.- Providing efficient, cost-effective, safe, and environmentally-sound options for handling, treating, minimizing, or disposing of contaminated animal carcasses and other associated wastes.

Developing, implementing, and evaluating grant proposals, funding and memorandum of agreements, cooperative agreements, and work group actions to enhance preparedness and emergency response There is no education substitution at this grade level.

TRANSCRIPTS are required. This position requires specific coursework or a degree in a specific field to be basically qualified.

this education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college or university.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

  • Resolves problems and issues affecting State response and readiness to receive, process and deliver the NVS.

  • Participates in high-level interagency working groups to identify, prioritize, and recommend funding for 3D research gaps.
  • Conducts site visit/inspections to make sure newly acquired/redistributed equipment is managed properly and is in usable condition.
