Summary

This part-time van driver role involves providing door-to-door transportation to seniors and people with disabilities in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, helping them get where they need to go while offering friendly support and conversation.

It's ideal for someone who enjoys driving, works well independently, and has a patient, caring personality to assist passengers along the way.

You'll drive about 150 miles a day in a county vehicle, making a real difference in the community.

Requirements

As a part-time Van Driver, you will enhance the mobility of consumers by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable and courteous manner.

You will operate a county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day.

This is an opportunity to provide transportation service as well as social contact for our consumers (includes senior adults and wheelchair-dependent persons) and a chance to work independently.

Excellent communication skills required, both person to person and via two-way radio.

Willingness and patience to assist consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough payment or unpaved paths. and ability to easily adjust in daily schedule.

Must be a people-person as you will be providing important assistance and socialization throughout the day.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, approximately 14 to 21+ hours per week
  • Transportation operates 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with limited hours on Saturday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.


Conditions of Employment:

  • No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
