Job Description

Summary

This part-time van driver role involves providing door-to-door transportation to seniors and people with disabilities in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, helping them stay connected and independent in their daily lives.

You'll drive a county vehicle for about 150 miles a day, assist passengers with patience, and offer friendly social interaction during rides.

It's ideal for someone who enjoys driving, helping others, and working independently in a flexible schedule of 14-21 hours per week.

Key Requirements

  • One year of experience operating a motor vehicle as a regular duty, or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
  • No suspension of driver's license within the last three years

  • Ability to assist senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers, including along rough or unpaved paths

Requirements

As a part-time Van Driver, you will help our consumers get where they need to go by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable, and courteous manner.

Our team will rely on you to independently operate a county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day.

Your responsibilities will involve providing transportation services and social contact for our consumers, engaging your excellent communication skills both person to person and via two-way radio, and assisting senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough payment or unpaved paths with patience and politeness are key for success in this role.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, approximately 14 to 21 hours per week
  • Transportation operates 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with limited hours on Saturday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.


Conditions of Employment:

  • No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
