About the Position: The person in this position will serve as the Uniform Business Office Supervisor solving difficult and complex problems in the areas of Medical Services Account (MSA), Third Party Collection Program (TPCP) and Medical Affirmative Claims (MAC) programs.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Serving as a technical expert in accounting and/or budgeting 2) Evaluating the performance of key supervisors and subordinates 3) Overseeing billing and collection processes and procedures .

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Major Duties:

  • Responsible for analyzing system requirements and making changes in programs currently in use.
  • Provide daily technical and administrative supervision for the subordinate supervisors in the Uniform Business Office and program areas.
  • Establish and implement policies on administration and personnel management and training and utilization.
  • Process the more complex Third Party Collection Program bills, researching information to accomplish the function.
  • Monitor the office's billing and collection procedures.
  • Responsible for accounting for inpatient services (admission and disposition of inpatient and other hospital elements).
  • Manage delinquent accounts to be forwarded to Defense Finance Accounting Service for collection.
  • Serve as liaison with private insurance companies to develop methods and procedures for the proper billing and processing of the third party claims.
  • Serve as a technical expert in developing, implementing, training, evaluating, and improving the Uniform Business Office.
