Job Description

Summary

This job involves planning and managing transportation and logistics for U.S.

military operations in Japan, including coordinating with international partners and analyzing distribution needs to support global mobility.

A good fit would be someone with extensive experience in military or government logistics who can handle complex challenges, work with diverse teams, and communicate effectively with leaders.

The role requires adapting to limited medical access in Japan and focuses on operational planning for joint and bilateral efforts.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Transportation Specialist in the J4 Logistics Division ofCOMMANDER US FORCES JAPAN. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.

Please see Additional Information section below.*** Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following duties: 1.) Demonstrating understanding of transportation systems, logistics management, and deployment/ redeployment processes; 2.) Analyzing complex transportation and logistics challenges, developing solutions, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders; 3.) Presenting, defending and coordinating transportation and logistics plans with senior leadership, multinational partners, and interagency representatives; and 4.) Collaborating with diverse teams, including U.S military components, host-nation officials, and private sector organizations, to achieve transportation and logistics objectives.

  • You will serve as the expert and senior operational planning specialist with training and extensive experience in both transportation and logistics functional areas.
  • You will prepare, coordinate, implement, review and monitor transportation that affects logistics operational and management concepts, policies, and plans for joint and or bilateral concerns to US Forces in Japan.
  • You will provide visibility and analysis of inter and intra-theater distribution requirements and capabilities to synchronize the entire spectrum of global mobility and logistics capabilities.
  • You will maintain technical expertise and a detailed working knowledge of the JOPES/JPES database and supporting systems.
  • You will provide transportation capability analysis, while maintaining situational awareness of ongoing transportation requirements, plans and movements.
  • You will facilitate transportation and logistics support for Unites States Forces assigned to Japan.
