Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing transportation operations for the U.S.

Marine Corps, including managing vehicle fleets, coordinating passenger and cargo movements, and leading a team of dispatchers and coordinators.

It requires handling administrative tasks, developing policies, and ensuring smooth communication across different units.

A good fit would be someone with experience in logistics or fleet management who enjoys supervising teams and solving operational challenges in a military or government setting.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 level in coordinating and dispatching transportation for passengers and cargo
  • Experience developing and maintaining operational and technical policies for transportation
  • Proven ability to manage a civilian workforce with transportation licensing qualifications (e.g., Transportation Coordinator, Dispatch, CALTRANS)
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with higher headquarters, supervisors, subordinates, and logistics centers
  • Ability to plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate transportation operations and activities
  • Skills in performing staffing analysis, recommending personnel changes, and providing training to subordinates
  • Responsibility for inventory control and accountability of equipment in dispatching offices

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating and dispatching general transportation support of passengers and cargo; developing and continuing operational and technical policies; AND managing a civilian workforce with various transportation licensing qualifications (i.e.

Transportation Coordinator, Dispatch, and CALTRANS).

  • You will manage all administrative matters associated with the commercial equipment fleet.
  • You will be responsible for effective communication with higher headquarters, supervisors, subordinates, vehicle operations, Installation and unit coordinators, and Logistic Movement Control Center.
  • You will plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate the transportation operations and activities of the Regional Operations Section.
  • You will perform staffing analysis of requirements and recommends changes to personnel strength, trades, and level expertise.
  • You will develop internal policies, standards, methods and procedures for carrying out mission functions.
  • You will be responsible for control and inventory accountability of Plant Accounted and garrison equipment located in dispatching offices.
  • You will determine work priorities, recommend scheduling and derivations in scheduling and changes in shifts for subordinate employees, provide training, resolves problems and recommends corrective actions.
