Summary
This job involves inspecting construction sites for roads and bridges to ensure everything follows state rules, managing small to complex projects from start to finish, and leading survey teams to measure and mark out work areas.
It's a hands-on role that requires fieldwork in tough conditions and attention to paperwork and compliance.

Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management (or equivalent)
- Obtain and maintain certifications for specialized field inspections
- Ability to conduct inspections and ensure compliance with SCDOT specifications, rules, and regulations
- Experience or capability in managing bridge and roadway projects, including documentation like daily diaries, pay quantities, and estimates
- Skills in leading survey parties for layout, verification, and calculations on construction projects
- Compliance with environmental and traffic control regulations
- Physical ability to work in rough terrain, near traffic, and handle extended walking or irregular hours

Requirements
The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
