Job Description

Summary

This job involves inspecting construction projects for roads and transportation infrastructure, performing surveys, collecting samples, and preparing reports to ensure everything meets standards.

It also includes maintaining equipment, assisting with project estimates, and training newer staff.

A good fit would be someone detail-oriented with hands-on experience in construction or inspection work, comfortable working outdoors in tough conditions and able to lift heavy items.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs

  • Proficiency in operating survey equipment and conducting construction verification surveys
  • Skills in report writing, data collection, and using tools like SiteManager for project estimates

Full Job Description

Performs independent inspection in all fields and produces the required reports relating to those inspections in a timely manner. Maintains inspection and testing equipment and completes daily time sheets and monthly reports. Assists project managers in the development of monthly estimates in SiteManager and closeout activities such as final quantities and As-Built Drawings. Performs construction verification surveys and operates survey equipment during these surveys. Responsible for preconstruction layout activities and data collection. Ensures the collection of and/or collects samples and certifications relating to construction inspection activities. Assists with training other inspectors in all areas of inspection and survey verification. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May require occasional exposure to noise. May require working outside of normal work schedules and weekends.
