Full Job Description

Manages complex design build/special project road and bridge construction projects. Coordinates work with interdepartmental agencies and outside entities. Coordinates with Office of Alternative Delivery for review of submittals. Participates in weekly project progress meetings. Trains and evaluates personnel, contractors, and consultants. Manages consultant staff. Develops warranty list and monitors warranty items. Collects data to produce accurate reports and performs time-sensitive duties on all projects. Ensures consultant staff is performing the required testing and sampling. Utilizes AASHTOware to generate daily work reports and other reports as needed. Generates monthly estimates and closeout activities such as, but not limited to, final quantities, review of As-Built Plans and final punch list activities. Assists with pre-construction activities associated with deign build/special projects such as utility relocation, pre-construction photographs, etc. Reviews contractor certified payroll and monthly CPM schedules. Performs construction verification surveys and operates survey equipment during these surveys. Coordinates surveying needs with consultant staff. Monitors and reviews contractor surveys for compliance. Assists with surveying during the pre-construction phase of a project. Performs activities associated with procurement of design build/special projects such as review of requests for proposals, traffic control documents, plan development, alternative technical concepts, etc. Participates in evaluation committees. Coordinates with consultant staff and contractors on design build/special projects to ensure that project is being constructed in accordance with Contract Documents (e.g. technical proposal, request for proposal, release for construction plans, etc.) Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and three (3) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
