This job involves inspecting highway and bridge construction projects in South Carolina, ensuring contractors follow plans and standards for things like paving, earthwork, and erosion control.
You'll measure and record work for payments, document daily activities, and help keep work sites safe, including during bad weather or emergencies.
It's a good fit for someone detail-oriented with hands-on experience in construction inspection who doesn't mind outdoor work in all conditions.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel.
This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
