The Opportunity
WSDOT is seeking a Transportation Intern to join the Design Office in Olympia, WA.
This position supports the Roadside and Site Development Unit, which manages the roadside as a vital transportation asset while advancing multimodal mobility and environmental stewardship.
The intern will assist the HQ Roadside Design and Policy Specialist with QA/QC reviews and updates to standard specifications, the Qualified Products List, design-build templates, and roadside development guidance.
The role provides statewide technical support and additional capacity during peak workloads.
This internship offers hands-on experience developing technical guidance that supports design and construction on WSDOT right-of-way, with a focus on transportation system resilience.
