Requirements

In this position, you will act as the Assistant Construction Manager, tasked with the planning, coordination, and inspection of all construction activities, materials, and workmanship for projects within Engineering District 9-0.

Your role will involve supervising staff, ensuring that contractors and consultants adhere to established plans, specifications, and quality standards.

You will provide technical guidance and resolving complex issues will be crucial for the success of the projects.

You will also play a role in scheduling and resolving disputes to keep the projects on track.

Additionally, you will monitor project costs throughout all construction phases, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and specifications, while determining the most efficient methods for deploying departmental and consultant personnel across all assigned projects.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on an ADHOC basis.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience is a Transportation Construction Manager 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Eight years of progressively responsible and varied experience in construction inspection, and four of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity, and graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training.

    Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation.

    An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non- supervisory experience; or

  • Four years of progressively responsible and varied experience in construction inspection three of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity and a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, physical science, mathematics, statistics or transportation technology; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license which is not under suspension.
