This vacancy is for a GS-1712-12, TRAINING SPECIALIST located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN YORKTOWN EMERGENCY and DISASTER MANAGEMENT SCHOOL in YORKTOWN, Virginia.
Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified.

You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
AND To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST and be responsible for designing, developing, revising, and conducting courses located at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown.
This includes establishing training criteria to meet organizational requirements, formulating training plans, assessing program effectiveness, and developing improved curricula as needed.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: Develops total course content to meet defined course objectives for Emergency and Disaster Management School and participates in planning and developing or evaluating and revising the curriculum for a training program in the areas of preparedness and emergency and disaster response.
Prepares, executes, and monitors programs for small- and large-scale trials/pilots of courses.
Plans, develops, and compiles manuals and teaching methods for training courses; develops tests and curriculum for instructors in the field; and conducts studies to improve methods of instruction.
Reviews materials to ensure that they adhere to policy and accepted techniques; negotiates and directs the preparation of cooperative agreements and memorandums of understanding between Coast Guard and outside sources in the development of training programs and materials.
Delivers Emergency and Disaster Management School curriculum in accordance with applicable policy and procedures throughout the United States.
Reviews and evaluates multiple courses and/or programs of instruction for Emergency Management; and evaluates course assessment design procedures.
