Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing the checkout, return, and maintenance of automotive tools and parts at an auto hobby center on a U.S.

Air Force base in Germany, while providing helpful service to customers using the repair facilities.

About the position: This position is located at the Auto Hobby Center, Ramstein AB, Germany.

This position provides customer service in the check out and receipt of automotive repair equipment, inventory maintenance and scheduling appointments for use of repair/paint stalls within the Auto Hobby Centers.

Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. This position does not offer logistical support.

Citizens and legal U.S. residents in Germany. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between Germany and the U.S., you must be a U.S. citizen or citizen of a NATO country with a U.S.

permanent resident card in order to be eligible for NAF employment.

Citizens of Germany (including dual citizenship if Germany is one of the countries) as well as "ordinarily resident" US citizens are not eligible for NAF employment per SOFA agreement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of a wide variety of automotive tools and parts; good workshop practices to include setting up and maintaining a neat, well organized and secure storage area; inventory procedures and records maintenance.

In addition, must have experience working with patrons providing quality customer service.

Must be able to follow written and/or oral instruction, make simple mathematical computations and be able to follow cash handling procedures.

Must be able to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Major Duties:

Issues, receives and schedules use of equipment, tools and repair/paint stalls for patrons. Uses chit or other parts assignment system for accountability of assigned tools.

Determines type of repair job involved and suggests a variety of tools needed to accomplish the repair.

Provides instructions to customers on cleaning processes, soiled rag disposal, sweeping and cleanup of repair or pit stall and removal of excess automotive parts.

Ensures tools turned-in are clean, assesses breakage or damage if any, charging customer for tools according to prescribed price listing.

Operates cash register and accounts for cash using established procedures. Maintains inventory control records of items issued, conducts minor maintenance and repair of tools and equipment.

Accounts for condition, inspects tools upon return, bins, stores or replaces item with new. Arranges tools and parts as stock is replenished or added.

Develops display pegboards, cleans and grinds tools requiring sharp edges. Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times. May be required to act as the primary or alternate equipment custodian.

Operates a NAF vehicle when conducting the duties of this position. Performs other related duties as assigned.
