Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Tool Maker without more than normal supervision.
These duties or tasks include: Programming, setting up and operating machines of the machinist trade, i.e., internal and external grinders, tool and cutter grinders, milling machines, lathes, shapers, and profile grinders; to include material selection and machining to very close tolerances.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out Ability To Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop Ability To Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic) PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work in this occupation requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching; moderate lifting up to 40 pounds when moving machine attachments and work pieces.
Work may be done in awkward and cramped positions. WORKING CONDITIONS: Toolmaker normally works inside a machine shop environment wherein there is danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips.
Possibility of skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants and abrasive compounds; danger to the fingers, hands and other parts of the body from cutting tools, and moving parts of machines.
