Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a telecommunications expert focused on cyber aspects, where you'll troubleshoot and improve communication systems for voice, data, and video, while providing advice and training to customers in a military cyber command setting.

It's ideal for someone with a technical background in engineering or IT who enjoys problem-solving, consulting on tech needs, and managing certification programs in a fast-paced defense environment.

The role supports U.S. Cyber Command and requires hands-on experience with system maintenance and operations.

Key Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, or related fields
  • At least one year of experience at GG-11 level equivalent in testing, configuring, implementing, or maintaining voice, data, and/or video transmission systems
  • Ability to identify operating deficiencies in telecommunications systems and recommend corrective actions
  • Expertise in providing consultation to define and specify customer telecommunications requirements
  • Skills in delivering technical and functional training on Technical Control Facility (TCF) operations and DISA Node Site Coordinator (NSC) duties
  • Experience managing certification programs, such as the theater NSC certification program
  • Proficiency in developing, updating, and managing SharePoint online pages and libraries per DISA policies

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA FIELD COMMAND USCENTRAL (CS4).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

IOR: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis.

Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:Experience testing, configuring, implementing, OR maintenance of systems for voice, data, and/or video transmission.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Identifies operating deficiencies, recommends corrective actions required to improve performance, and provides technical assistance to customers upon request.
  • Provides expert consultation to customers, to assist in defining and specifying their telecommunications requirements.
  • Provides technical and functional training in Technical Control Facility (TCF) operations and DISA Node Site Coordinator (NSC) duties, IAW DISA Circulars, standard procedures and practices.
  • Manages the theater Node Site Coordinator (NSC) certification program.
  • Develops, updates, and manages the Quality Assurance SharePoint online Pages and Libraries IAW DISA policies and strategies.
