Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading technical testing of explosive and pyrotechnic devices used in naval countermeasures to ensure they meet safety and performance standards for the fleet.

You'll plan and manage test projects, work with teams of engineers and technicians, and handle customer negotiations on timelines and budgets.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Platform Protection & Countermeasures Technologies Division (WXR), Countermeasures Assessment Branch (WXRP) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions.

This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $138,370).

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical electronic engineering leadership and guidance for improved testing of explosive or pyrotechnic items to ensure compliance with safety and security measures in support of technological advancement and sustainment of the fleet.

  • You will serve as Lead Test technician/task manager performing Acceptance Testing for the Countermeasures Assessment Branch.
  • You will plan, schedule and direct the efforts of engineers and technicians as needed to accomplish tasking.
  • You will provide regular updates to the Technical Project Manager (TPM), sponsor and management regarding cost, schedule and performance status of assigned tasking.
  • You will maintain an explosive certification for handling and testing pyrotechnic and explosive devices.
  • You will work with various customers regarding requirements, prepare work estimates, negotiate with the customer regarding task, funding and schedules, provide written plans and prepare presentations for program sponsors.
  • You will develop, maintain, operate and improve equipment and programs used in the lot acceptance and development testing of pyrotechnic units.
