Full Job Description

The Technical Specialist 1 - HVAC Team Lead position performs assigned duties, coordinates and leads contractors in the maintenance related tasks to include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, building automation, and any other applicable tasks for the facilities managed by the General Services Department.

The men and women in Metro’s General Services Department are there to make sure the rest of government works.

From ensuring that our city’s vehicles run safely and smoothly, to keeping city buildings up to par to providing printing services and more, General Services is the support that allows other Metro departments to focus and achieve their missions.


Requirements

  • Reviews incoming work orders from building customers
  • Assigns duties to vendor employees.
  • Works with customers to ensure work completion and follow up.
  • Contacts vendors for estimates, later coordinates scheduling of work and adherence to safety and security policies.
  • Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of variety of building systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks through the facilities.
  • Assists in weather and special events pertaining to or conducted on the premises of the facilities.
  • Responds to after hours and emergency requests.
  • Hands on repairs of many systems to include HVAC, building automation systems, lighting, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
  • Supervises HVAC contracted vendor employees.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years' experience with HVAC or related systems.

LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid Driver License


**Candidate must receive and maintain a passing status from the Metro Nashville Police Department background check.

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
