Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage and secure the Department of Defense's information networks, including analyzing risks, setting goals, and ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.

It's a high-level supervisory role focused on cybersecurity and IT operations for national defense.

A good fit would be someone with extensive experience in IT security management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to handle complex technical challenges in a military or government setting.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of experience equivalent to GG-14 level in program management and IT cybersecurity
  • Demonstrated competencies in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving in IT contexts

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Expert Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - PAE Transport.

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position.

For vacancies below the full-performance level of the position, the basic requirement will be evaluated on a developmental basis.

Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues.

I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions AND Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-15, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: program management; providing staff with directions; performing comprehensive information system security analysis, risk and vulnerabilities; planning, organizing, managing budgets and developing vision and objectives; exercising supervision and control through a staff of multi-disciplined professional and technical personnel encompassing the information systems management.

  • Participates fully in the management, coordination, and direction of specified DISA IT requirements as they pertain to operations / management of the DOD Information Network standards, functions, services, systems, networks, assets, and facilities.
  • Performs comprehensive information systems security analysis, determining impacts, risks, and vulnerabilities based on various systems configurations and architectures.
  • Plans, organizes, manages, budgets, and directs accomplishment of all functions including developing the vision and objectives within the Division.
  • Exercises supervision and control through a staff of multi-disciplined professional and technical personnel encompassing the information systems management, telecommunications, information assurance, network, and automation disciplines.
