Basic Requirements for Supply Technician: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting inventory of supplies and/or equipment; submitting purchase requests using automated systems; and providing customer assistance and/or advice on procurement processes.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06 or above.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06 or above).

Major Duties:

  • Serve as the manager of Medical Care Support Expense Equipment Program (MEDCASE/CEEP) programs at Treatment Facility-Dental Treatment Facility (MTF-DTF).
  • Exercise responsibility for the overall management of investment and capital expense equipment from the initial stage of planning through site preparation and installation.
  • Research regulations, technical data, supply publications, contracts, manufacturers catalogs and similar references to generically identify equipment needed.
  • Prepare lesson plans and instruct classes for the Medical Care Support Expense Equipment Program (MEDCASE/CEEP) programs.
  • Establish funds journals to provide audit trail of allocations and withdrawals.
  • Administer the five year Planning and Acquisition Program and Equipment Modernization Program.
  • Monitor changes in technology, capacity of equipment, configuration, and complexity of medical equipment requires coordination to assure economy and cost effectiveness.
  • Submit complete equipment requirements through proper offices for required approvals and authorization.
