Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing supplies and inventory at a military medical center, including ordering items, tracking stock, conducting inventories, and handling purchases using computer systems.

It's a support role in a logistics office where you'll ensure supplies are available and records are accurate.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in inventory management or procurement, who is detail-oriented and comfortable with office-based work and occasional lifting.

About the Position: This position is located within the Director for Administration, Department of Logistics, Office of the Chief at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

May require walking moderate distances and moderate lifting and movement of supplies. The majority of the work is performed in an office setting.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating purchase requests with customers; tracking supplies and/or materials using automated purchase requisition systems; assisting in conducting physical inventory of accountable inventory; and assisting in maintaining account record documentation using automated system.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Conduct physical inventories and adjust and/or maintain inventory, stock, or property records.
  • Use automated systems to research records, conduct data input, and perform data corrections.
  • Serve as a Purchase card holder to conduct procurement requirements.
  • Manage ordering and receipt process.
  • Initiate, prepare, edit, and process requisitions to stock, customer support areas, and appropriate supply organizations.
  • Ensure that all material is properly receipted into the automated system and that proper electronic data files are sent for payment.
  • Monitor quality assurance information and conducts quality assurance inspections of assigned area.
