Full Job Description

Francis Marion University invites applications for a Manager of Materials Services who, under limited supervision, plans and directs all functions related to Materials Services, including the Work Order Center, Central Receiving and Central Supply Warehouse.

Manages all shipping operations for the University. Assists with development of Department procedures and training, as required. Exercises administrative control of personnel.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating work assignments and procedures with Materials Services’ team to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates with Facilities support areas as required to develop, maintain and closeout work orders for campus-wide events. Generates historical reports to establish labor and material estimates for routine, annual and special events.
  • Monitoring work assignments, routines, internal operating policies/procedures, schedules and performance; inspecting warehouse to ensure compliance with accepted standards; coordinating with other Facilities Management teams to obtain special project materials; and setting inventory limits and determining stock rotation requirement.
  • Managing the procurement of standard and non-standard Departmental equipment and supplies for the Central Supply Warehouse and coordinating the University’s surplus property records
  • Providing direction and support to various Facilities support areas as required to ensure appropriate levels of inventory and making recommendations concerning product selections, supervises annual physical inventory of materials.
  • Supervise Campus deliveries

Requirements

State Requirement: A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment to include supervisory work experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for work experience.

*Valid SC Driver's License Required.


Qualifications

FMU Preferences: A bachelor’s degree with four or more years of relevant experience preferred.

Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and public. Requires effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word and other software used in a Windows environment. Experience in Maintenance Care or equivalent CMMS system is required.

Must have considerable knowledge of inventory control and supply management principles. Ability to plan work schedule, set priorities and schedule personnel to perform planned work.

Additional Information

State Classification: Supply Manager II (AC09)

Pay Grade: GEN09

Salary: Dependent upon Experience and Pay Grade

Normal Working Hours: 7:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. (Monday - Friday). Summer hours will vary.
