Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY WATERFRONT PRODUCTION MANAGER in the Waterfront Production and Self Help Branch (code 900F.11), Temporary Facilities and Equipment Manager (Code 900F/1).

Production Facilities and Equipment Manager (Code 900F), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying principles, concepts, and practices associated with the Production Temporary Facilities, Self Help, and Job Readiness Cell programs at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY).

Experience applying project management, NAVFAC rules and guidelines, NNSY Fire and Life safety regulations.

Experience applying a wide range of technical practices, techniques and principles of industrial management, engineering technology and statistical quality control.

Experience developing new methods, procedures and approaches in operations related to the construction and maintenance of temporary facilities, self-help, and joint readiness cell work.

Experience dealing with officials of other units or organizations as well as advising management officials of higher ranks.

  • You will resolve issues concerning the identification of appropriate facilities, space allocation, use and appropriateness of such facilities, the acquisition of the temporary facilities, material, equipment and tools necessary to achieve operation.
  • You will collaborate with personnel from other departments, shops, codes, contractors and senior leadership to meet their needs.
  • You will utilize forward thinking to mitigate discrepancies that may occur; identify and assess the effects of said discrepancies, and devise alternatives to reach intended shipyard goals.
  • You will make decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors; and serve as reviewing official on evaluations of nonsupervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors.
  • You will make or approve selections for subordinate nonsupervisory positions; recommend selections for subordinate supervisory positions; hear and resolve group grievances or serious employee complaints.
  • You will plan, assign and evaluate work performed by subordinates, including setting and adjusting priorities, considering the difficulty and capabilities of each employee.
