Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing the management, maintenance, and operations of a large fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment for the U.S.

Marine Corps in San Diego, including budgeting, inventory tracking, and ensuring safe and efficient use to support military needs.

A good fit would be someone with experience in fleet management or logistics who enjoys leading teams, handling budgets, and solving operational challenges in a structured government environment.

Key Requirements

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing fleet commercial equipment including analyzing and managing equipment inventory, preparing and forecasting budgets and long-range resource projections and overseeing equipment maintenance programs.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will responsible for the effectiveness of the commercial fleet as a product.
  • You will be responsible for the management, operation, maintenance, repair, disposition and safe operation of all GME fleet equipment and assigned facilities.
  • You will represent the installation Commander and the Regional Fleet Manager in all commercial fleet management activities.
  • You will represent the installation's interest to the Regional Fleet Manager for the establishment of commercial equipment allowances, accountability, operation, maintenance, and procurement.
  • You will Manage all administrative matters associated with the commercial equipment fleet
  • You will be responsible for accountability of a multi­million dollar commercial equipment inventory consisting of automotive vehicles, material handling equipment, weight handling equipment and construction type equipment.
  • You will oversee the preparation and management of the fleet's annual operating budget.
  • You will plan, coordinate, and execute of fleet operations to meet the transportation requirements of all elements of commands and individual customer's demands exacting detail and the expert utilization of subordinates.
  • You will exercise authority and responsibility for the execution of numerous supervisory activities.
