Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage and maintain all transportation vehicles, equipment, and operations at a naval base in Sasebo, Japan, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.

It includes planning repairs, training staff, and solving problems to keep support services efficient.

Key Requirements

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRANSPORTATION MANAGER in the Transportation Branch of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD FAR EAST. ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing, coordinating and planning all operations, maintenance and repairs of various transportation and weight-handling equipment to ensure the continued capability and efficiency of the transportation office.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will direct studies and reviews of production and support; develop corrective or alternate methods to solve problems and implement them as required to improve productive effort and support.
  • You will plan and direct a complete maintenance and operations program of all NAVFAC Far East Sasebo's Base Support Vehicle and Equipment.
  • You will ensure all maintenance, inspection, and testing is performed in accordance with NAVFAC P-307 and that all personnel associated with weight-handling equipment (WHE) are trained and qualified to perform such work.
  • You will manage, plan, license, coordinate and direct all operations, maintenance and repairs of various transportation equipment, including weight-handling equipment (WHE) of the Sasebo Transportation Office.
