Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage the storage, delivery, and readiness of materials, tools, and equipment for ship repair projects in the Navy.

You'll oversee planning from start to finish, coordinate with teams to ensure everything is ready on time, and supervise staff while handling administrative tasks.

It's a good fit for someone with experience in logistics or supply chain management who enjoys leading projects in a military or technical environment.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SUPPLY MANAGMENET SPECIALIST in the department of PSNS and IMF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: overseeing and planning the storage and delivery of materials, tools, and equipment to complete required project availabilities for supporting ship repair projects.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the primary point of contact for all Job Readiness Cell (JRC) related functions beginning with pre-availability through project completion.
  • You will initiate and oversee a project job readiness strategy, review written job summaries, technical work documents, references, material tracking information, and project facility plans to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • You will plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee all JRC functions to ensure timely implementation of project plans to mitigate risks impacting the accomplishment of project objectives.
  • You will attend project meetings for critical nuclear and nonnuclear work to ensure readiness actions are started in a timely manner to support the work.
  • You will communicate readiness issues impacting the scheduled start of the job to project teams.
  • You will coordinate with the project resource manager, project supervisors, and tool providers to meet initial tool and equipment needs, and establish processes to support work throughout execution.
  • You will serve as a second-level supervisor for up to four Production Shop Supervisors and up to four Materials Expediter Supervisors by performing a full range of technical and administrative functions.
  • You will set and adjust priorities, evaluate work performance, advise and counsel employees on both work and administrative matters, hear and resolve complaints from employees, effect minor disciplinary measures, and identify needs of subordinates.
