Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S.
Border Patrol Headquarters, Strategic Communications Division, Field Communications, located in Washington, D.C.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Supervising the development and maintenance of web and digital content to ensure alignment with organizational messaging, usability, and accessibility standards.
Developing and executing executive communication strategies, including positioning senior leaders as credible spokespersons and thought leaders.
Reviewing and clearing sensitive communication materials for policy, legal, and operational accuracy, and ensuring appropriate coordination with affected offices.
Developing and implementing communication policies, procedures, and governance processes to ensure consistency of messaging and brand.

This position will allow you to use your expertise to develop new and alternative communications strategies and approaches that enable employees assigned to the organization to maintain a clear and accurate understanding of all current and upcoming initiatives and programs within USBP.
You will develop and execute a strategic communications plan and strategy for all USBP's headquarters and sectors which directly impacts and supports CBP's mission and priorities.
This position starts at a salary of $169,279.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10).
As a Supervisory Strategic Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the collaborative release of information for the organization to internal and external stakeholders.
Your duties will include: Consulting with senior level officials to include DHS and other stakeholders to identify short- and long-range actions to effectively and efficiently comply with legislative and regulatory changes that currently, or in the future, impact the organization.
Leading and developing USBP-wide messaging initiatives and campaigns, analyzing best practices, and leading a holistic strategy to improve key communication processes and measures.
Coordinating communications with congress, including staff briefings, staff and member delegation visits to sectors, as well as preparing the Chief of USBP for testimony to congress.
Monitoring external communications to ensure leadership remains informed on matters that impact the workforce and USBP, as well as monitoring internal and external communications within USBP to ensure adherence to policies.
Directing and managing subordinate supervisors and staff who are directly engaged in providing direction and analysis, operational support, and strategic communication in service of the USBP mission.
