About the Position: This position is with the Defense Commissary Agency, Vilseck Commissary located in Vilseck, Germany.

The incumbent serves as the first line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store, responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations.

Specialized Experience for the GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes performing work-in front-end operations, stocking and creating displays for store merchandise, conducting store inventories, inspections, and processing items in shipping and receiving..

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Financial Accountability Teller Leadership Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Direct and control the operations and personnel of the commissary front end customer service department.
  • Monitor and supervise all register transactions.
  • Modify schedules based on personnel capabilities, planned and emergency leave schedules, and position vacancies.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates.
  • Identify training needs and work to ensure the needs are met.
  • Respond to customer questions and issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Complete, review and file a variety of forms and reports which account for daily operations which serve as control records for the receipt and deposit of all transactions - electronic or cash.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of front end area and operations to ensure compliance with local safety, fire, security, and sanitation regulations and procedures.
