Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team in planning and managing cybersecurity for networks and systems within the U.S.

Department of Defense, ensuring secure integration of hardware, software, and telecom setups while solving complex technical problems.

It's ideal for experienced IT professionals with strong leadership skills who enjoy supervising others and advising on security strategies in a high-stakes government environment.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience in planning, managing, and directing network and systems security initiatives, including requirements analysis and systems engineering
  • Demonstrated IT competencies: attention to detail in reviewing work for accuracy and compliance; customer service in assessing and meeting IT needs; oral communication for briefing non-technical audiences; problem-solving for complex IT issues
  • Experience coordinating systems acquisition, provisioning, testing, and integration of security hardware, software, and infrastructure
  • Ability to supervise and provide technical guidance to branch members and matrix support personnel
  • Skills in analyzing conditions, assessing needs, and devising innovative solutions compliant with regulations

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Supervision Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - DBC/CYBER DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE.

Basic Requirements: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position.

Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues.

I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions AND Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience such as planning, managing, directing and facilitating network and systems security management initiatives including requirements analysis and coordinating systems engineering and design, or systems acquisition and provisioning.

  • Serves as Branch Chief to coordinate, facilitate and supervise members of the Branch and providetechnical/functional supervision and guidance to other matrix support personnel.
  • Coordinates proposals for the implementation, testing, and integration of utility hardware, system software, and telecommunication infrastructure and into customer's security programs.
  • Analyzes conditions, assess needs for programmatic and personnel adjustments, and devise innovative solutions to arising issues while being compliant with prevailing regulations and program specifications.
  • Serves as planning advisor to the Division Chief and participates, in the preparation and administration of the Security budget.
  • Analyzes the security of equipment and systems currently in use; plans, directs and conducts system studies including security investigations of newly developed information processing systems and doctrine.
