Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a security team at a naval shipbuilding command, advising top officials on security matters, and ensuring the protection of sensitive information, facilities, and operations related to building ships for the Navy.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 or equivalent level managing security programs for compliance in protecting personnel, information, facilities, operations, or materials in shipbuilding or similar functions
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, directing, and executing security responsibilities
  • Ability to formulate, coordinate, and recommend security policies to senior leadership
  • Total responsibility for security in shipbuilding functions, internal operations, and contractor relations
  • Decision-making authority on subcontracts, foreign relationships, and matters impacting national defense and employees
  • Supervisory experience over security specialists and assistants (e.g., NH-03/GS-12, NH-02/GS-11, GS-7 levels)
  • Oversight of programs including Information Security, Operations Security, Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection, Navy Nuclear Propulsion Information, and CUI

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY DIVISION CYBER OPS AND SECURITY DEPARTMENT of SUPSHIP.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band level NH-02 (GS-11 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing a security program to ensure compliance with security policies, procedures or processes for the protection of personnel, information, facilities, operations or materials for shipbuilding functions.

  • You will serve as the principal advisor to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding and Deputy in all areas within the Security Department.
  • You will serve as the command expert with responsibility for the planning, coordinating, directing, executing and administration of all responsibilities under the cognizance of the Security Division.
  • You will formulate, coordinate and recommend command security policy to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding and Deputy.
  • You will have total responsibility and accountability for security responsibilities that relate to most shipbuilding functions, internal operations of the command and contractors.
  • You will make decisions relative to subcontracts and foreign relationships that have a direct impact on ship production.
  • You will make decisions that have a direct effect on employees and navy personnel, all of which have a significant impact on national defense and security.
  • You will make security decisions that have command wide implications.
  • You will serve as the designated Security Manager/Security Officer.
  • You will oversee the Information Security Manager, Operations Security and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer.
  • You will have oversight of the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Information and CUI programs for security related matters.
  • You will formulate and manage SUPSHIPNN security education, training and awareness programs as directed by the Secretary of the Navy.
  • You will administer the SUPSHIPNN security classification management requirements by maintaining a program for the proper classification, declassification and downgrading of a large volume and scope of classified information.
  • You will exercise direct supervision over three Security Specialist (NH-03/GS-12), three Security Specialists (NH-02/GS-11) and three Security Assistants (GS-7).
