Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Guard Supervisor for the Security Guard force to support installations safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes directing the work of an organizational unit engaged in providing protective security, planning and coordinates shift activities, work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Plans and supervise activities of 24/7 rotating shifts of security guards to ensure the maintenance of physical security standards.
  • Support the implementation of installation emergency plans in accordance with standing operating procedures.
  • Periodically inspects personnel for appearance, condition of weapons and equipment, knowledge of duties, and manner of performance.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and difficulty of assignments to capable employees. Advice and counsel employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Prepares cost estimates for operation and maintenance of assigned vehicles and other material requirements for use in budget.
