Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is within the Directorate of Emergency Services located at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1)Protection of government and personal property; control of access of personnel and vehicles to the installation enforcement federal, state, and local laws and official orders and regulations AND 2) performance of supervisory and administrative duties relating to the security guard force, and providing advice or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Major Duties:

  • Plan and coordinate the activities of security guards, through subordinate supervisors, to insure the maintenance of stringent physical security standards, enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, official orders and regulations.
  • Control movement of personnel and vehicles through the installation access control points.
  • Inspect personnel for appearance, condition of weapons and equipment, knowledge of duties, and manner of performance.
  • Develop training courses based on regulatory requirements and supervise necessary training for guard personnel in the use of weapons, protection against espionage, sabotage and other organized subversive actions.
  • Perform managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force.
  • Develop manning and budget requirements for the Guard operations.
