Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to ensure workplace safety in a Marine Corps training facility, by advising on hazards, creating safety policies, conducting inspections, and promoting safety awareness.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in occupational health who enjoys supervising others and solving complex safety challenges in high-risk environments like military operations.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST within MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the ags-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical safety and occupational health advice and guidance to managers and supervisors; implementing the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA); initiating new approaches to deal with existing safety problems; AND determining safety needs and requirements in performing diverse and hazardous operations.

  • You will provide technical guidance on diverse and complex hazardous conditions and safety related issues throughout the organization.
  • You will develop policies and procedures related to Safety and occupation health program issues.
  • You will plan and administer a series of scheduled and unscheduled safety inspections, surveys and assistance visits, to identify the nature and severity of hazards for the purpose of establishing foundations for remedial actions.
  • You will develop and promote safety campaign materials an ensure that safety standards are incorporated into appropriate training manuals and classes.
  • You will plan work to be accomplished, set priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work to assigned staff.
