Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage safety and health programs at a naval ship repair facility in Japan, focusing on identifying workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing inspections and budgets.

It's ideal for someone with experience in occupational safety who enjoys supervising others and advising on risk prevention in industrial settings.

Note that medical and dental care is very limited in the location.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS SAFETY DIVISION; ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY, HEALTH, AND RADIOLOGICAL CONTROLS DEPARTMENT of the NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY .

Please see Additional Information section below.*** Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience managing, monitoring, interpreting, and seeking resolution for matters concerning Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental programs including formulating technical policies, standards, and instructions AND ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations.

  • You will apply firm knowledge of regulatory compliance with Federal, DoD and Navy Standards and Laws as applied to facilities, equipment, operations and work processes.
  • You will be able to identify and assess hazards in the workplace, and develop and present findings, reports and recommendations.
  • You will communicate clearly your findings, presentations, training, etc. to Chain of Command, Codes, Shops and Branches.
  • You will perform supervisory personnel management responsibilities, both technical and administrative, to the Industrial Operations Safety Division.
  • You will advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives.
  • You will plan, organize and administer a program of scheduled comprehensive safety inspections to identify and correct industrial hazards.
  • You will provide technical interpretation of applicable DOD and CNO OSH laws and regulations to ensure proper technical and administrative compliance is met.
  • You will manage branch overhead spending and training annual budget, provide monthly budget tracking along with monthly accountability.
  • You will provide Contractor oversight ensuring safety compliance.
