About the Position: This position is located in Falls Church, Virginia.

Basic Requirements for the Supervisory Program Financial Specialist GS-0501-14: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing acquisition and/or contract management activities, analyzing financial data to develop budget plans, and advising leadership on budgetary and/or acquisition polices.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Directs and oversees the efforts of government civilian and contractor support analysts in the development, justification, and execution of the resource management functions within the Planning, Programming and Budget System.
  • Develops acquisition plans with milestones to ensure the procurement process supports the program's project plans and timelines.
  • Provides expert guidance and advice in the areas of financial and acquisition management to senior management officials.
  • Develops new methods and techniques of budgeting to forecast short-and long-range financial needs
  • Keeps abreast of current developments in the financial and acquisition fields by studying technical literature, attending and participating in meetings and symposia, and through correspondence with other professionals.
  • Develops and executes a management control system to establish and maintain financial documentation.
  • Ensures the program financial and accounting operations within this system comply with applicable policies and regulations.
