Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to oversee and improve the planning for repairing, maintaining, and upgrading U.S. Navy ships and submarines at regional centers.

You'll review policies, coordinate with high-level leaders, and recommend changes to make operations more efficient.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-03 pay band (GS-13 Equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating the analysis, studies, or management review of operations to identify or recommend improvements for the repair, maintenance, or modernization of surface ships or submarines.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will provide oversight of the management for depot level repair, maintenance, and modernization planning programs at the Regional Maintenance Centers.
  • You will develop depot maintenance planning program policy, procedural, and operational changes.
  • You will interface directly with Directors and Department Heads.
  • You will serve as the expert point of contact responsible to review depot maintenance and modernization planning program policies and draft proposals submitted from Fleet Commanders, Type Commanders, and System commands.
  • You will monitor reporting to ensure consistent knowledge management of information in the planning of Depot Level repair, maintenance and modernization of U.S. Naval Ships.
  • You will develop comprehensive recommendations based upon reviews and data collected to improve management and the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Depot level repair, maintenance, and modernization planning programs at the RMCs.
  • You will formulate and provide recommendations on policy, procedural, and operational changes to correct situations identified in studies and internal reviews.
  • You will direct, coordinate, and oversee the work of subordinates.
  • You will perform supervisory and management functions including prioritizing and assigning work, providing technical review and guidance, approving leave, developing performance plans and rating performance of subordinates.
  • You will initiate, plan and organize, and direct reviews of operations related to Depot level repair, maintenance, and modernization that are extremely complex and diversified.
