Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PORT OPERATIONS WATERFRONT SPECIALIST in the PORT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Establishing daily priorities and assigning daily work locations for the repair and maintenance of service craft; 2) Determining ship positions at piers to facilitate brow and berthing/support barge placement; 3) Rearranging berthing assignments to meet rapidly changing ship movement schedules; 4) Arranging for the placement of pier platforms, gangways, barges, and other berthing support; 5) Ensuring the safe and secure moorage of all vessels including tugs, barges, and other floating stock; 6) Determining and developing docking plans for placement of line handling personnel to control the docking of vessels.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Position is subject to working odd or rotating shifts and weekends. Major Duties:

  • You will perform follow-up inspections to check on the work done to correct deficiencies.
  • You will determine berthing locations based on vessel characteristics, pier and crane operations, and space consideration.
  • You will establish maintenance schedules to meet maintenance production and quality standards.
  • You will assign work to junior level employees based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, or the capabilities of employees to meet command goals.
  • You will determine project resource requirements for changes in workload commitments.
